Hello! We are Francis and Xavier. Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us!

We met in 2009 through a mutual friend who was convinced that we belonged together. It didn’t take more than a week of chatting online to realize that our friend was probably right. We decided to meet in person, and the magic happened! Our love story started between the romantic city of Paris in France and the festive city of Liege in Belgium, most famous for their amazing waffles!

We moved in together in 2011 and adopted our adorable puppy, Lulu. We celebrated our love in 2014, when the friend who introduced us officiated our wedding, together with all our family and friends. In 2016, we settled in Rochester, NY, which we fondly call home. We feel that now is the perfect time to build a family. We have been dreaming about it for many years and have always known that adoption is the right path for us

A few things that I love about Xavier are that he is very intelligent, super handy, and constantly laughing. He is also very active and always up to something: cooking delicious meals everyday, gardening in the backyard, playing the piano, or organizing our new trip, in the US or abroad.

When he’s around kids, though, he’s a magnet! You can be sure that any child who is around, and who knows Xavier, will be right up next to him, holding his hand. I can’t count how much time Xavier spent playing hide and seek with our nieces. They simply adore him. 

Xavier is a doctor, doing research in medical science. But that doesn’t stop him from finding the right way to talk with kids. I know he longs for a child to play with and to explain how a watch works or why there are clouds in the sky. He will be the happiest man on Earth when that day comes! 

Fun Fact About Xavier:

When he was a kid, once he mastered a piano piece, he would try to play it with his feet. You can imagine the result!

Xavier’s Favorites:

• Hobbies: Playing piano, taking care of the house, gardening, going to the movies
• Movie: Jurassic Park
• TV show: The 100
• Song: Hakuna Matata
• Food: Spaghetti and meatballs –like in Lady and The Tramp!
• Season: Spring! Too bad it is so short in Upstate NY.
• Holiday: Thanksgiving –love its value of sharing with family and friends
• Travel destination: San Francisco –with a flower in his hair!

Francis is a very fun, curious, open-minded, and extremely thoughtful person. He also has a great sense of humor, and can make anyone laugh. He uses his boundless imagination to make the most amazing costumes for Halloween. I can’t wait to see him dress up a kiddo in their favorite Disney character. You’ll also find him building Legos on lazy Sunday mornings, using it as an excuse to get ready to become a dad.

Francis is always eager to learn new things. He obtained a master’s in Psychology and previously developed tools using new technologies to help children at school. He is now a manager in a cooperatively-owned grocery store that supports local businesses.

It is fascinating to see how much Francis cares about people and respects them for who they are. These values are very dear to his heart. He truly is my moral compass and I know he will be the best role model for a child.

Fun Fact About Francis:

Growing up, him and his cousins would sleep in a hut built by their grandfather and great grandfather. In the morning, they would wake up with “moonburns” all over their faces… They discovered years later that their parents would paint their faces during the night!

Francis’ Favorites:

• Hobbies: Hiking, skiing, and chilling with a good book or movie
• Movie: Mulan (the cartoon!)
• TV show: The Umbrella Academy
• Song: Bohemian Rhapsody
• Food: Maki rolls (sushi) –especially those prepared by Xavier! 
• Season: Spring, when nature awakes.
• Holiday: Christmas –a warm holiday in a cold winter
• Travel destination: Yellowstone National Park and South Africa

We recently bought a house with the perfect backyard, and we are enjoying making it our home! We renovated the kitchen and bathroom ourselves, and set up a lovely nursery that would be perfect for a baby boy or a baby girl.

The kitchen is Xavier’s territory. He loves preparing all sorts of dishes for the two of us every day, and for family and friends when they visit. Traditionally, Friday is pizza night! We see mealtimes as very enjoyable moments. It’s often the times when we share stories, laugh together, express our feelings, make plans for the holidays, etc. We can’t wait for a little one to join us in these special moments that bring life into our home.

We chose our house because it is in the best place to build our family. We live in a very welcoming and multi-racial neighborhood that is as quiet as it is lively. It is very charming and scenic, with fairy gardens on every other curb! We often walk our dog, Lulu, in the nearby parks where we meet many families.

The local daycare is literally across the street. Even though Francis will be a stay-at-home dad, we plan to have a child attend daycare a couple days a week. This will help them develop their social skills and thrive even more.

We come from two very different families! While Xavier’s is small and very united, Francis’ is large and never has a dull moment. Whatever the style, we love them and they love us just as much!

Xavier grew up with his parents and his two brothers as a small pack. Everyone is still very close, and we love gathering together at his family’s vacation homes in the mountains and in the countryside. We have two nieces on his side of the family, both of whom adore us. Xavier’s parents are wonderful grandparents, who are longing for more grandchildren to love and spoil! 

Francis was raised around his two sisters, his brother, and countless cousins. The whole family now gravitates around Francis’ grandmother, now four times a great-grandmother. Christmas is really a big holiday in Francis’ family! The whole family meets up for a feast, exchanges tons of presents, and the kids play all day long. We have more and more second cousins as the years pass, and we can’t wait to see a child carry on with such happiness with them!

Family and friends have always come first, and we love spending time with them! We enjoy having them over for a chill barbecue or dinner, or to join them for a board game night. 

We also love traveling and already long for our next trip – Hawaii is on the books for 2021. We have visited many places together, including the East and West coasts, various National Parks, as well as different countries in Europe and Africa. We hope to revisit our favorite locations with a child and expose him/her to the beauty of the many different cultures around the world.

When it’s just the two of us, we like hiking and camping with our dog, Lulu, or going to our local movie theater (they make the best popcorn ever!). Xavier also likes gardening and playing the piano. He would be so happy to teach a kiddo and play piano duets with him/her as he/she grows up! Francis enjoys reading and watching Disney movies. His favorite books are Harry Potter, and he can’t wait to read the whole story to a child at night.
